    Those copper nose are pretty fish. Just found out the state of TN has finally decided to try stocking some. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

    these are likely several generations , like 20 or so years worth of probably stocked back when coppernose hybridized up well with our native bluegill would be my best guess , I think that is what is causing such a huge diversity in the colorations of them , we have managed some out of that spot that are just purple as can be and yet others look just like a native fish , sure are eye ketchn fish no doubt about it

    they were just feeding on bugs and such? mostly topwater? oh man that would have been fun just to watch let alone be slinging gillies.

    never was sure if it was fry on the surface or actually insects are maybe even possibly some sort of small blooms , the surface was just totally covered from one end of the small lake to the other with tons of slurping , popping and swirls with some splashes mixed in as well. thought at one point it might have been cotton wood blooms they were eating ? seen carp eat them before ? not sure ....
    might have even been all the above ...
