Default Quick trip to the pond

Got to the pond around 3:30 left a little after five .
Weather was beautiful, sunny, 66 degrees . I was in short sleeves and short pants .
I expected to do better than I did . I think the warm weather scattered the gills .
Started off with a 5’6” Daiwa Aird X UL rod with a Shimano Sahara 500 FE and 2# p-line . Fishing a woolybooger micro jig on a mini drop shot with a 1/16 weight .
The little Daiwa rod just wasn’t sensitive enough to fish the drop shot . I had trouble feeling what was going on .
Luckily , I had my 5’4” St Croix trout series rod in the truck with my Shimano Nasci 500FC , which is my favorite combo right now .
I used a spider fly tied on a drop shot and with a 1/16 weight and could feel every little bump .
First catch was one I think I’ve caught a couple times before . A 9” incher that’s not the healthiest fish in the pond . But he put up a good fight on the little SC rod . I thought it was a bass the way it ran .
Ended up catching a smaller gill and a decent cracker before a walker bought four quarters worth of duck food and stood on the bridge and watched the gills feed .
Well , at least I know they were still there .
Also finally got a couple pics of the new Nasci reel .

Sounds like a good trip, even if you had to compete with duck food.

Duck food flavored nibbles? Or tie them up like spawn sacks!

Fun times at the pond, maybe get you a duck/ fish food pellet lure, I think the trout guys have some sort of hatchery dust stuff they use as well.

Nice looking reel! We’re not too far behind you with the weather here, a few more weeks.

Thanks , I’m liking the Nasci 500 a lot . Have another one on order from Japan . Going to see if there’s any difference.

Wish I could get back after them again today , but today is doctor visit day . It always seems the best weather day of the week is taken by appointments.
