Good catch, bet that green bank bully was fun for sure.
So, I was using a larger #8 Bream killer after reading that #8 and #10's were better for mouth hooking gills rather than them inhaling smaller sizes sometimes. First fish- OK things going as planned.
This lake has bank beavers and they have these runs that are a few feet deep and run up under the banks. Good place to cast from. Laid that Bream killer out about 4 ft. from shore and had stripped off another 15 ft. to cast when this LMB comes shooting out from under the bank in that run and grabbed that wet fly along with my 15 ft. of line. Stopped him & that little glass 3 wt. bent in half and started wearing him down. Didn't need to even give him any extra line, which kind of surprised me, & had him back on shore pretty quick. After that, to get back to my targeted fish, I tied on a #14 white panfish popper and managed to land a few smaller ones. A good day for sure.
Looks like a great 3 wt

I noticed last trip I was getting some topwater hits on my bobber. Maybe next trip it is time to break out my 3 wgt and some poppers! Water conditions level wise are July like right now with lack of rain so maybe up top would be worth a try. You can’t beat a topwater take!
