Hi all. Any opinions/experience with the Gamma Panfish line in 2 or 4lb test? How did it go - suppleness, coiling, etc. Hi Viz is a must for me. I am looking at an alternative if Stren Crappie gets real hard to source.
Thanks,
Bob

Gamma is fine, I have gone to the flo-orange lines for my lack of vision. Right now, I am testing the Zebco Camo Crappie line in 4# it is a very good line with great knot strength. Their are a lot of good lines out there. I love Sufix also. I mostly fish trees and stumps for my panfish, so 2# is not heavy enough for that.

Gamma Company is in Franklin Pa. All though not all the line is made there.

When doing some research I saw that a member mentioned in a thread that the base line was made in Japan, and then the line received further manufacturing here in the US. I don’t know if that is still true, and would not affect my buying decision. It is tough to find 100% sourced in the US, and there is nothing wrong with Japanese line.

Gamma panfish is great line. Very little memory, small diameter for it's break strength which if you read labels is almost double the rating. The 2# has a break strength of closer to 4 and casts small jigs from .5 grams and up great but if you fish heavy structure you'll break the occasional fish. Still my go to line. Scott

Thanks for the replies. Alphahawk has posted a good link to a Japanese site that has a chart where you can compare the diameter of the line to its true breaking strength. Very handy. I saw that based on diameter it is twice its stated strength. I can live with that. I was most interested in how the line handled and any bad habits along those lines. This line will be for U/L casting 1/64 - 1/32 jigs.

I use the 2 lb test and like it a lot. I buy the big spool directly from Gamma.

I have to admit, this is the first thread on any forum that sent me on a shopping spree
I have tried just about all the lines I can get locally and always seem to be looking for something better. I hope this stuff is as good as it sounds, I just bought a few miles of it
