Good post and I figured the Abu was stiffer than Corto... Nice looking equipment and fish!
The June Full Moon this year is fast approaching, and with the crazy Spring we are having, it is shaping up to be as good as the May Full Moon was in my neck of the woods. Snow....yes Snow was on the Mountain tops in May, and since Gills do not read calendars, I think they were as confused as Mother Nature’s other constituents. Anyway, as the old Cheese Orb is filling, I went back to known bedding areas in search of the Cricket Crunchers, and they were home yet again preparing for the perpetuation of the species.
?
?Size was good early, no wind yet. The Finetail with the Sunline Braid was called to action, and it was mega-fun with the hard pulling quarry on the other end.
?
A 9 inch Gill in public waters, I’ll take those all day long. Two fish break offs hurt my feelings, one was Mr Small jaws who acted like he just won the Gold Medal in high jump and high dive.
?
The Lemon Meringue TM with a Crappie Nibble in the clearer calm water was the ticket. They liked it. The jig head is from Decoy, 1g with a #8 hook and a keeper. I brought along the newest hen in henhouse for some more seat time....the 6.10 ABU Garcia Eradicator Finesse. With 10 Torzite Guides (4 different sizes) (Corto has 8, not Torzite) and all kinds of fancy words describing the blank and materials, it is becoming my favorite stick to swat at these beautiful fish.
?
The rod handle is a little different than what I am accustomed to, but cleaning is a breeze. No fish slime on the foam or cork, advantage ABU. The Daiwa Presso seems right at home on this rod, and this pink braid is the Daiwa Brand, again, funny name with Silicone no Hibikki? Softer than the 6.10 Corto, the rod leans towards the Mebaru category. Comparison notes, you do get some great feedback from the Corto, stiffer middle section and bite detection is felt through the middle section as a jolt almost, at least with Braid. The ABU bite detection is softer, not muted, but when setting the hook it just feels smoother. Maybe the extra guides or the blank exposed handle.... it is just different, almost like the fish hook themselves. Back to the fishing, as the wind got up I switched to a Grasshopper colored TM with the Daiwa Gekajibin 1g hook due to the muddied stirred up waters.
?
Another 9in came to hand, he got a pass as I had already filled my quota of the day.
?
20 came home, 30+ stayed at the lake to take care of future business. A tape measure and a clicker keeps it real.
?
?
These will go to the freezer for future meals. Panfish are great on the plate.

Great fish and thanks for the report on the Abu. There are several others on the site with that rod and positive reviews from all. I have considered it in the past and missed a great price awhile back

Very nice report!! Thank you for the description of your new rod...It's about the only way we can understand what we might be purchasing!! I LOVE JDM equipment but the one drawback is that you are shooting in the dark upon purchasing these high dollar rods.
I purchased the Shimano Soare BB and it really doesn't get much love around here but I think it's an excellent rod. It has a perfect panfish action if you ask me. One thing I have to do differently when fishing for the big redear here on Barkley, is I tighten the drag down when fishing near cover. I guess that's a common tactic for literally everyone fishing near cover but it works with the Soare. My Triplecross has more horsepower, I don't have to tighten the drag down nearly as much...

I picked this rod up on sale, and have to say it is well worth the price. When you shake the 6.10 Corto, the tip wiggles some but the rod itself is rigid, especially through the middle of the blank. The bending curve when loaded with a fish reflects this feel. When you shake the ABU, you get a softer wiggle further down the length of the rod, not whippy by any means, but softer. The link at Digitaka is broken, but here is a link to all the features of the rod, TAF technology, Toray blank, NannoAloy technology, micro guides etc. The 10 Torzite guides make a difference on the 6.10 length. Casting with a microbraid is crazy good. I will say though, I put the yellow 3lb Unitaka braid on it when i first purchased the rod, and the guides whined like a puppy. Not for me, i dealt with that briefly in my Bass days when braid came on the scene. I ordered the Daiwa Braid, and it is quiet as a mouse going through the guides. With a 1g jighead and plastic bait the rod loads well

I fully agree with you on your assessment of both your rods, as I have both. The TC is a workhorse, my cricket float rig rod in 7.3. String it up with braid and the fish are coming the direction I want them to. Once clear, I enjoy the fight of these little buggers and look forward to the figure 8 pull at the boat. From the bank, the TC is just as good and my drag is a little tighter when my two feet are on the ground rather than on the deck of the boat. The Shimano makes the trip up to VA to my daughters small backyard lake and the stunted Panfish turn it every which way but loose, and man it is fun.
Great report Stan...I'm going out in the morning with my Erfs-69xult...My nephew hass been getting a mix of Crappie and Bluegill on Boone...
