Default Could this be the predator of a pond?

I fish a very small pond for bream sometimes, and just flat-out slay them. I also get these bream/bass hybrids called warmouths. I just caught a ton of them, several around a pound just now. By the way it was crazy it's snowing on April 7th in Texas!:p

Could these keep the bream population down? I've been catching several potato chips and just layin em out on the bank.

If this is the fish you are calling a warmouth, its what we call a goggle-eye. Looks like a bream with the mouth of a bass or crappie.
I don't think it would be much of a predator of bream. I would recomend throwing a few catfish in the pond to eat the smaller bream.

Yeah, my wife caught that thing a couple weeks ago. I had never seen one before. Here is some info on them:

Don't want to step on any ones toes, but the warmouth (goggle-eye) is NOT a cross between a bass and bream. They are each a different species. And they are very good eating. If you have never tried them, give them a try. I think you will be pleastly surprised. They are alot thicker than your regular bream.
I do not think they would be the problem with your bream population down. Like Johnny said, throw a few catfish in there to keep the small ones down.

Just discovered today that the warmouth ARE the problem. They're WAY overcrowded on the shorelines.

13 Inches!!!! You might have eaten a record fish! The link posted earlier said they are usually 4-10 inches and the Ohio record was 11.2 inches.

World record is 2.7 out of Florida.

    They are great eating too!!!!!!!!!!!

We catch tons of them on the Edisto River while fishing for redbreasts. They are delicious tablefare. They are also prolific breeders so keep all you can
