Nice looking fish, i noticed when you made a few casts the rod had that buggy whip action. Are the SUL and XUL about the same? I thought i read some where that JDM rods are a little stiffer in action across the board than our available rods?

Great video. I must have missed it but what kind of reel are you using. It sure was smooth.

No......it is not like a buggy whip. No JDM rods I have are like buggy whips. I am using an area trout rod....which is a very soft action but the 2 Major Craft trout rods I use are fast rated. The Palms rod I use is not rated but it is fast.....and it is an XUL. The Daiwa Iprimi is not rated either and I need to fish it more to speak about it. But none of them are whippy say like a US market Daiwa Presso UL or a TFO UL rod. I have bass specific rods.......Ajing rods....Mebaru rods and area trout rods out of Japan.....none are whippy. The Ajing rods are as fast as one will get on an UL.... as a matter of fact the Truzer Ajing 6’ 5” H model is extra fast.....if you went by US standards it would be rated XX fast. The Mebaru and area trout rods are both softer action rods. But I have used too many words to answer your question....LOL. You are correct....all JDM rods are faster across the board than US domestic rods.

It is a Daiwa Luvias 2004H It is a great reel. It is the entry level reel in the Daiwa lineup that is made in Japan. Here is a video link about it.
