    Default little skunk from nothead

anybody ever used the little skunk from nothead? I was watching a mtb unboxing and they were one of the included baits, looked them up and they look really cool. also trying to figure out how to make some for myself rather than buy them, pretty sure I have a good idea, just need to find hooks that fit.
heres a link if you dont know what they are.

I used to use the Little Skunk, Polecat, and No-Name lure for Bluegill (also White Bass and Crappie). The main reason was that the 1/8oz "Dollfly" of those days was just too big for Bluegill. Of course I am talking back in the 1960's when "I" used them.

Skunks has a tubular shaped body & stinger hook was hooked on the main hook through its "eye". Lure did not "wobble".

No-Name has a J shaped body & stinger hook was tied on the main hook with #2 test nylon "cat gut". Lure would "wobble" when retrieved.

Polecat has a J shaped body & stinger hook was hooked on the main hook through its "eye" (like the Skunk). Lure would "wobble" on retrieve. (IF memory serves me, that is)

Here's what I came up with. Size 6 on the front and 12 for the stinger.

Keep us posted on this if you would.

I've been working to find a successful articulated body jig for a while now and have almost given up.

I've got a bit to do to this one but I need to get to the material shop first.

What's giving you trouble on the jig?

With 1/32 oz jigs and a stinger hook, the geometry to keep the stinger from tangling with the main hook, and/or the line is a problem, and I haven't gotten the action that I was looking for either. With small hooks, and small hook eyes, the trailer hook can also get bound up and "locked" in a position sticking out left or right, etc. I was about to go with a 12lb braid line loop, but kinda got frustrated with the project.

I even clipped off the hook on a 1/16 oz and bent the shank to be the loop to hold the stinger hook, but I never was happy with the end results...so far anyway.

Good luck, hope you find the magic.

Tangling the line and stinger I can't help, but to connect the stinger use beading wire. I will be making a video on this once I get it nailed down, but I'll look for an articulated pattern to show you what I mean for connecting them.

    Here's a video showing the connection I use. https://youtu.be/lMQfUp7AIUs
I use 7 strand .45mm beading wire and 6/0 glass beads from the craft store.

That is a heck of a fly. Acts like a leech in the water----Kinda. Wish I had known about that when I lived near the brown fish.

Good work to you Big Mike. Your skunk should do well. Now you got me thinkin......
