Default Drop shot Gills at Pickwick.

Had a great day fishing drop offs at Pickwick today using the Trout Magnet on a drop shot setup. I used a #4 panfish hook tied about 2 feet up from a 1/4 ounce snake in da brush weight. I fished for another 5 hours today and never got this thing hung up....it is the real deal. Used my 6' 7" UL Major Craft FineTail Banshee Area Trout Rod strung up with SOS 2# test line. Had a Bison colored Trout Magnet on the panfish hook. Cast out into 8 feet of water and slowly wound it back....without fail when it got to the ledge and started down...bam...fish on! Had over 150 Gills all in the 7-8 inch range. Not the size I am looking for but the positives were....chunky fat fish......good fight on the setup I was using......numbers were off the charts. Had about 10 juvenile shellcrackers...they were small but a lot of fight. I fished for 5 hours then a quick look at Radar Scope on my phone and it told me it was time to go. Good thing too....as soon as I got the boat loaded and in the truck the bottom dropped out. If you haven't tried drop shotting a Trout Magnet do so.....it is a fun way to fish and get it down to them deep. Plus when they hit, they hit it hard. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks the 8-9 inch fish will show up. Life is good!

    Regards

Theres a few cuts on the main lake. That this time of year, hold big fat slabs. Have not fished them in a few years. Hope the grass has not taken them over. Will know next week.

Great job...keep posting...I am enjoying and learning from your posts. Friends of mine fish the drop offs for bass on Pickwick with a lot of success.

Going back and looking at my fishing reports....pics.....the good ones in the places I fish don't usually show up until end of September or first week of October. Seems the grass gets more and more each year. Got to keep trying though....LOL.

I found the ones early. Using the Side scan years ago. They were out deeper making beds. We had fun for a couple of weeks while others were waiting.
