    Default Gills and Crackers.

Spent the day catching Gills and shellcrackers. The Gills were all at or between the 8-9 inch mark, and could not break the 9.5 inch mark on the shellcracker....but caught over 2 dozen shellcracker and had around 20 Gills. Can't seem to locate the 11-12 inch shellcracker but still had a ton of fun with a lot of drag pulling going on using the Tict Ice Cube 6' 9" UL Ajing rod....2# test SOS line......and a Bison colored Trout Magnet fished under the PanFish float. Had the float pegged at 2 feet. Worked the shallow shore line around the milfoil. Water temps were 90 degrees and while I thought they would be deeper I couldn't get a bite deep. Life is good!

Caught these at a small TWRA lake. Never fished Dale in the fall....but will this year. Fished it spring......early, and late winter but never in fall. Hoping I can get the fall shell-cracker bite up there.

Nice looking fish! I'm going to try to locate some shellcracker this fall on Ky Lake and Lake Barkley. They are a spring treat but are known to disappear after early June. Is there a good fall bite on crackers at The Dale?

Don't know.....as I said in post #5 I have never fished it in the fall...fished it the other 3 seasons....but I will find out this fall. I haven't fished a lake yet that did not have a fall shellcracker bite. Having said that it is all about timing and I am sure water temps play a big role on the timing. But I will burn up the roads here pretty soon hoping to get on them up there.
