The tail seems to be too thick on all of the 1" twister tails. I have thought about making a mold with a super thin tail for using tiny 1/80 oz jigheads. The fish might bite them off, but I could always make a lot and re-pour the broken ones?
I've found that Mister Twister has one of the best curly tail action (1 inch) lures. I've purchased and done well with the (Pumpkin Pepper and White). They work well casting and slow retrieve with a split shot 12 inches up the line on a 1/32 or 1/48 jig head.

I remember an article in a outdoor magazine from when I was a kid about dipping the tails of plastic worms in boiling water to give them more action. You had to put some kind of scent or oil on them or they would stick together. It did make them move allot more.
