Default [pics] Is this a bream?

I caught this one from brackish water in Stockholm, Sweden last month (September 2010) while on a business trip there. It is at least 3 lbs:

If it is, it's the biggest one I have ever seen :D But I don't think it is.
    Good looking country side.

It's spelled the same as our bream, but it's pronounced "breem". Young ones are called "skimmers" and look nothing like the adults. They are a very popular fish all over Europe.

The one you got is a nice one. I think the world record is around 16 pounds.

Thanks! I once did a search on google -> images -> "bream fish", and found photos of the same fish all over the place. Now you say for the same word "bream", there are two different types of fish! No wonder:-)

There are probably more than two. The word "bream" comes from the French word "breme". The English then adopted the French term. It looks like whatever lands the French and English colonized, they pegged a local fish with the name "bream". There's an Australian bream that's very popular (they even have a tourney trail similar to our bass fisherman), and I'm pretty sure there's at least one African fish that is called a "bream".

I didn't eat it, so I really don't know (I was told this fish is full of bones, by the way)

(when fishing while on the road on a business trip, I don't keep anything but only do "catch and release":-)
