I don't pay attention to length. I just buy what's available when I need some. The photo I posted doesn't show it but the ones I buy have a small metal ring at one end of the quill that I run my line through after I pass it through the O ring.

Thanks Swamp Fox, I was wondering if you buy them online or local? Have been wanting to try these. I see natural ones for sale from 2" to 14" thats why I was asking. Thanks again..Dwayne

I find them in the smaller Mom&Pop bait shops that tend to be out in the boon docks. Don't recall ever seeing them at the big box places. My Walmart doesn't carry them.

Ain't nuthin' deadlier in hot weather when drownin' live bait for gills than a long pole, 4# test, a quill float, and a #12 hook. Makes them that are 'mouthin' around more noticeable.

those quills come from african porcupines, and they are hard to find. the american porcupines have too small of a quill for a float.

They are really sensitive. I think a bream could breathe on them and you'd know it.
