I used blue glitter for the top and white or silver glitter for the bottom. I epoxied them and just shook a little glitter onto the epoxy; gives a little more flash; don't know whether its any better or not-p-

I first learned about these "beer can" flys back in the 1970's when I lived in N.Central WI. I still have (and use) some of the original ones I made. while great for open water fishing, they are awesome for ice fishing. The first time I used them on ice, I caught my first actual 12" bluegill!
