    Default Oologah Action

My daughter and son-in-law if coming up this weekend from frigid Illinois. Would like to hit Oologah and get them in some crappie. Any areas producing now?
    Thank you,

I was scouting a place to bank fish on Friday and there was about 15 truck and boat trailers at Vada Point on Talala Creek, don't know if anybody was catching anything but they sure were trying.

    Unhappy

I fished there (Vada) for 4 hours and caught 1 3lb drum on a point going out to the main lake. Did not get a bite up in the creek.
    Hey, tell me a story!

Fished Talala creek Saturday and Sunday. We caught caught 15 dinks and one keeper Saturday. Sunday was just a little better caught about 20 dinks and 1 keeper. Fished brushpiles 17- 20 ft deep. We did talk to a guy that said he caught 20 nice fish Saturday. I'm not sure how or where he was fishin. Water was still cold 48 degrees.

    Default Oologah report

We fished yesterday (3-9) from about 9am-5pm. We started out casting roadrunners over brush in about 15-18 feet of water. We caught a few and kept 4. We then went into Talala creek and fished the south bank points and caught 5 huge drum. Straight across from Vada point ramp we caught several dinks and 2 keeper crappie. Water temp across from ramp was 56. We left there and went to a shallow creek, water temps 60-62. We started doodlesocking every piece of cover with our long poles at about 1pm. We caught about 25 crappie and 25 bass along with a channel cat and 3 sandies. We ended up keeping 23 crappie over 10 inches, and 9 of them were over 14 inches long. Mostly big females but we did have 2 very large males. Almost every piece of cover had some type of fish on it. We were using an 1/8 oz chartreuse head and a pearl solid body jig. Water about 2-4 feet deep. This is the earliest either of us can remember catching them this shallow. It was sure disappointing to see this weather change coming because it was getting ready to be fun. I just got home from work and the cold front has already hit here. I was hoping to go one more time this afternoon but have decided against it. Come on warm weather.

    Default Warm weather

Deerhunterodie- It'll be here shortly. I anticipate that this cold snap will be the end of it. The photoperiod is continuing to lengthen and the moon is full tomorrow night. I am researching the March full moon in 2008 to see when it occurred during the month. A senior fisheries biologist with ODWC and I are trying to corelate some data on a project.

With this extended cold front. I can almost guarantee the main spawn will occur on the moon in April. There may have been a few in March, but very few. There will always be a few latecomers in May.

Put in a spencer creek Thursday. Water was 46 deg. Made the stupid decesion to run over to shull hollow. Fished around in there for a few hours with little luck. By the time I decided to head back the lake was up and really rolliing. Just glad I was in a pontoon.
