    Default Moving to OK

I spent most of my life in Arkansas, but after getting outof the military last year, I moved to Connecticut for a job. Now I am moving to Oklahoma...for a job. In CT they do nothave hunting clubs or anything like that and most of them have never heard the word Crappie. So I am glad to be getting back to deer and crappie country. I know this is a fishing site, but I have been here for some time now so I thought I would ask anyway. I will me moving near Moore. Are there any hunting clubs/deer leases around that anyone might know of? Any information would help. Thanks Dave

There are 2 clubs that I know of Okc Sportsmans club, I have been in this club for 8 years it used to be good but it sucks now. They lose leases and don't replace them and they raise costs yearly and add more members where there isn't even spots for all members by drawing it is currently around 1500.00 yearly phone# 405-943-4419. The other is Edmond sportsmans I don't know much about it.

    Welcome to Oklahoma Dave.
I'm not aware of any hunting clubs but have lease hunted in OK since 1989. Have hunted on four leases in this time, three from classified ads in the newspaper. Two worked out very well all around, the third was a nice place to enjoy the outdoors but did not provide much opportunity for deer.
As the hunting season approaches watch the newspapers, you will find a spot.

WEST OF EUFAULA ON NUMBER 9 HWY IS A RANCH CALLED CANADIAN RIVER RANCH, THEY LEASE FOR DEER HUNTING I THINK ITS SOMTHING LIKE 12,000 ACRES, AROUND 1,000 DOLLARS A HEAD.IM A DEDICATED FENCE HOPPER MYSELF. BUT IT LOOKED PRETTY GOOD FROM WHAT I SEEN. I HUNT PRIVATE LAND OVER BY THUNDERBIRD LAKE, GO KNOCK ON SOME DOORS YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED.

Canadian River Ranch is the third place I mentioned earlier. Like Chance said it's approx. 12,000 acres and is a beautiful place. Lots of trails, roads for sight seeing and or riding ATV's and a pond or two for fishing. Was a terrific family recreation place but deer hunting was tough.
They allow members to bring a guest hunter for all except the primary deer gun and primitive weeks.
I was there 8 or 9 years ago so all of this may be changed.
Membership was $1000.00 yearly and was year round access.
    Had two feeders stolen there.
