Yeah I wouldn't use this knot for braid. I've never used braid for crappie fishing until two weeks ago. I used it for casting with a bobber from the bank and it was a NIGHTMARE!!! Every cast it got tangled badly on the bobber. Loved it otherwise and will be using it when I go dipping for crappie.

Since this is the advice thread I will just offer my experience that casting with braid and a Slip Cork has not resulted in undue tangling for me. Wasn't clear on what type of bobber you were referring to Dr. So maybe this will help. By the way that was a really useful knot tying demo which could only have been improved by using your "little crappie girl" for the demonstration. She is a sure fire lock for maximizing your popularity as a poster.(-:

Lol. She and her brother are in Tulsa at grannies for the week or else she would have been helping.

I was using a spring bobber. It would get caught in the spring. Of course I was zinging it a good distance every cast. I'm sure with a smaller cast and way less wind it wouldn't have done this.

I thread the line though the jig and pull approximately oh 7-8" out.

I wrap it around my fingers 2-3 times.

Thread the jig through the loops.

I wet the line with my mouth and gently pull it tight. Here you will have to finesse it back and forth to get the proper length of loop. Don't pull it too fast or tight or you'll warp the line and have curly q's in it which can cause weak points.

    Finished product.

Here's a video of the one I use. It's similar but I find it a little easier to finish.

That's what I'm doing except I pull less line through so I waste less line and then no matter what I do I have to finesse it back and forth to get the proper length of loop or otherwise I might get too big of loop. Not all the time but some of the time. Some of the pictures are a little mid-leading but I had to move my fingers and hand out of the way to take pics of the different stages of the knot.

That is the same knot I use, and I learned it from the exact same video. Takes practice to get a consistent size each time, but it isn't hard. I agree with the notion that the fish are probably side-swiping the rig. I caught two last weekend that were hooked in the side of the body. One Crappie and one Sand Bass.

Here is another one that is easy to tie that I have used. For double jigging, start way up the line so you have a really long tag for the second jig.

If that was too hard to see, here is a better visual. Same knot. For double jigging, start way up the line so you have a really long tag for the second jig.

If you tie it straight to the eye you can also pull the knot downward toward the hook then it will let the jig set sideways but you have to do it after ever bite....I usually use the same knot as nip but I only go around my fingers once

Used that knot also for along time. Now I just make a loop and pass the jig through that loop 3 times which is the same concept but a lot quicker and just as strong. LOOP, PASS JIG THROUGH 3 TIMES, PULL AND TIGHTEN TO DESIRED LENGTH, I USUALLY DONT PULL REALLY TIGHT AND THE FIRST FISH CAUGHT WILL CINCH THE KNOT FOR YOU.......Ranger
