    Default Seeking help on Texoma

Ok guys, I'm born and raised Okie but, moved to tx almost 25 years ago. Have a trip planned with family to Lake Murray week after next and plan to haul my crappie boat and fish Texoma. I hear Hickory Creek holds some good size slabs and wonder if I can launch maybe Lebanon and get to Hickory Creek by boat? Or any other launch ramp close by? Never fished Texoma for crappie. I'm on the Tx Fishing Forum daily in the crappie section under same name as here. We are staying at Murray so could fish anywhere else in that general area, just don't want to spend hours trailering boat from there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, May be a little slow to get help on Texoma. We don't have too many reports from down that way. I know there are some of dedicated Crappie fishermen from there but they are rarely on the Oklahoma CDC forum. By far, the majority of our participation comes from the NE part of the state. There are lots of great Crappie waters in the southern portion but just not much response on the Oklahoma forum. I lurk occasionally on the Tx fishing forum crappie section and have seen your postings there. Hopefully someone that fishes Texoma will chime in. FLC on the Tx forum.

Thanks Iken, I was beginning to wonder but, certainly understand now. I asked for help on TFF and got several responses and one especially that directed me to a website that shows a list of all the brushpiles set out by, I guess, the Parks and Wildlife guys? Even gives coordinates!!! That is fantastic!
If you ever need help down in E Tx, I'll be more than happy to help all I can.

    Okie Bob,

I never fish that far west on the lake. I live on the east side but right now I am in Alaska so not doing much slab fishing. 2 weeks ago we kept 33 in 9-11 fow 6 foot down over brush. The lake is up 2 feet since then and with the storms there now it will go up more. For the most part the corp piles are marked well but check around them as some of the markers have moved adn some of the piles are very big and spread out. Best of luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks Ralph and hope your trip to Alaska has been a good one?
Maybe you can help me out. I'm unfamiliar with the corp brushpile markers. What do they look like? I found a site that gives the coords for every lake in OK which is a great thing for Parks & Wildlife to do and Tx sure doesn't do it. So, I can find them with my GPS but, curious what the markers look like in advance of getting there.

The markers look like a no wake bouy but they have a little fish on the side instead of the no wake circle. A few that I fish the markers have been gone for a while but with gps you can find them.

Alaska is always good this time a year. I work up here for the summers.

Hey Bob; if you need more help... try the "sixoldgeezers" Striper fishing site. There are fishing reports posted, and several of thee guys have mentioned catching crappie. Ya might meet a new friend or two? Good Luck!

The Roosevelt bridge and the railroad bridge by Alberta Creek are usually good spots for crappie. On the Roosevelt bridge, try the first 2-3 columns on the east side. This should produce some action for you.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm leaving for Lake Murray this morning and will probably fish it tomorrow morning. I'll be looking for the brushpiles found on the website. Then probably hit Texoma and the Hickory Creek area first, moving on from there. Can't wait to get back to OK! But, the crappie fishing is great down in Tx right now.
If I have internet access I'll let you know how things go for me up in God's Country!
