    Default Kaw vs other lakes

Eufaula reports, "I caught 39 tonight", "we caught 79", "432 in an hour and a half".
Kaw report,"fished all day and caught 11", "hard but managed 6 in 53 FOW"
So is this a pretty normal year or has Kaw just been a lot tougher than usual? I'm pretty dang tired of fighting the wind every freaking time I go up there and it has thrown my plans out the window about every time but I notice from the threads that I'm not the only one just catching a few at a time. I've got half a mind to drive all the way over to big E but I'd be pretty lost. I'm just hoping Kaw will eventually fire up.
so again, is this just a weird year or is Kaw a better non-spawn lake?

I have caught a bunch during winter but they average small. I have never fished Kaw during the spawn, I have been keeping an eye on the posts hoping it is going to pick up. In summer I fish up there because of the size of the fish and not the numbers, Kaw has a really nice average fish size (excluding winter schools) and some real pigs. I like dipping and pitching cover in summer and its hard to beat the fish size at Kaw for that technique that time of year.

I have only had a few trips there this year but the least I caught in an honest day of keepers was probably 18. Last Sunday and Monday fishing half days we took home 40 and 25 respectfully with some really good fish mixed in there. Of course the weather was cold and we did not even attempt to fish shallow. Just stayed in 15ft of water and looked for brush with fish. I go to Kaw whenever I can just because of the pigs that swim there. I have never fished Eufaula though I should since it is less than an hour from my new home and Kaw is 2+ hours.

Only fished Kaw for 2 days, one prefishing in January on a Friday afternoon, and the other on Tournament day. We caught somewhere around 30 to 50 on the 1/2 day prefishing in 25' DOW on wood. On tournament day we caught probably 70 keeper crappie in the same depth of water vertical jigging the wood. Again it was in dead of winter so I don't guess this is much help. I do believe that Kaw is a wonderful Crappie Fishery from what I saw with just 1 1/2 days of fishing it. Keystone is another Great Crappie Fishery as well. Brian (EB) and myself caught probably 150 keeper crappie in 2 days again fishing for a tournament in the Arkansas arm of the lake on nautral banks and wood. Thats the only time we had ever been on that lake as well...Wish I could help more other than saying you should of been here yesterday...Ranger

Yeah, I'm more concerned about spawn stuff. Just doesnt seem like I've heard anyone talking about catching limits regularly in 2-6fow and was wondering if tht is normal for this lake or if they just haven't gotten going yet???

Three of my friends just fished Kaw and had a blast! They brought home over 90 keepers on Saturday. They said the bite was shallow, and once they found them it was party time! They caught a mixture of males and females. I sure wish I could have joined them, but other things got in the way!
