I have never heard anything but praise and appreciation for the tournaments. Certainly you deserve a healthy portion of both! Thank you for your efforts. When I reach a point where I think I can weigh 7 keepers I will join in! I do enjoy reading the results and hope that more teams will post their own so I can enjoy the tournament from the comfort of my couch.[/QUOTE]

I really enjoy when folks who fished the tourney post the after action report from there point of view.

George I can make you one PROMISE...Being around these guys at the tournaments (and they are not close lipped usually) you can learn so much about techniques, DOW, baits and color, cover, area of lake, electronic questions, and ECT. It has made me a better fisherman and will do the same for anyone that listens and asks questions. The first one I fished George my partner and myself never took a fish to the scales. Not saying we didn't have our limit of 7 to take but after seeing what the professionals were bringing we decided really quick not to show off our catch..lol..talking about putting a bad taste in my mouth..Thats when I decided to watch, listen, and learn. I went fishing with several very good fisherman and paid my dues to learn different techniques on different waters and get out of my comfort zone. My comfort zone wasn't working on all the waters. Its a learning process but you can't learn by RIDING THE PINE...read everything you can get your hands on and the computer is a great tool now with so many very good fisherman having articals and techniques used, but you have to be able to put those to use. Ok I will shut up but you are missing out on a great time and oppurtunity to learn and fish different waters.....Ok you can shoot me now...Ranger

Had two calls yesterday and three calls today from people who have heard of the Kaw Tourney and want to know how*to*enter. This could turn out to be a tourney with 20+ teams. If you are only considering fishing this tourney, I encourage you to commit to it and come out and have a good time. Weather is going to be very nice and looks like there are going to be several new faces and if anything like last week....the fish will really be biting.

There is not a large meeting room, but there is a meeting room that will seat about 10-12 people. Any more will need to be seated outside like you said.

A great turnout for todays tournament on Kaw Lake! I think we had 15 boats enter. A couple of guys made the trip from Woodward...WOW! Some Kansas fellars made it down too! As for the results, I'll let swollencrappie chime in. I know Whisperer and I didn't win. I think we placed 5th or 6th. I prefished yesterday and marked brush, found some fish then moved on to another spot. Kevin and I sat over some nice brush tucked out of the early morning wind feeding some dink crappie our jigs. I tried finding the brush that Chatt had showed me and came up blank. Tried finding the drop off Chatt showed me and couldn't remember which cut it was off of. Tired of striking out, Kevin and I headed for the drop off most were prefishing yesterday and found a mess of dinks and sandies. Yesterday the fish were hanging out in the 20' range. Today, the dinks seemed to replace them. With a couple of hours left to fish, we moved around a bit and I found a laydown in about 12.5' of water that showed a few fish holding. Within a minute, Kevin caught a decent keeper, I culled a dink. Then again, and again and so on. Kevin, or Bill Jr. as I called him started catching fish and I got to keep the boat in position. During his onslaught, I did catch a few, but none that would count. He changed the day for us and kept us from getting embarrassed at the weigh. Which we made by TWO MINUTES due to running out of gas in the boat on the way back to the ramp. We launched at Sarge and ran out of gas just before going under HWY 11 bridge. I still had plenty of juice in the TM so we were pressed for time trying to bet back on time. After digging out the paddle, I was able to help the trolling motor go into WARP speed. I guess I shouldn't mention the bendix problems the starter on the big motor was giving me throughout the day. All and all I had a very fun day of fishing and got to meet some great people in the process.

Thanks to Swollencrappie for handling the Kaw Tourney and to the ONE STOP in Kaw City for allowing us to meet there! Even Cricket George snuck in on us towards the end.

Good to meet you guys! Had a blast!

Reaper - I spent the day dropping fresh cedars for later fun. I have another couple of days of cedar dropping before I am done. I wish we had had enough time to do some serious fishing.
