    Default Reel Repair

This may not be the proper forum for this post, but I hope so. I have a Mitchell 308 reel in need of some parts and repair. This is a reel I purchased in1965 and for sentimental reasons I would like to have it in working order. I don't who or where to take it for repair and hope one of you can actually do the repair or can direct to someone or someplace that can do it. I would prefer some place in or around Tulsa. Thanks in advance you your help.

Merle, you may try Bass Pro. If they dont, they may recommend someone who can repair it.

bass pro does not do repairs.they have a few worm gears for abu's . i do some reel repairs but the problem is going to be able to get parts for a old reel. i have several old reels i have been trying to find parts for and no luck. if it was a penn there wouldn't be a problem as they have not changed parts for years. my suggestion is watch out at yard sales, flea markets, pawn shops for a parts reel.

Hey Guys, thanks for the information. I'll check with Bass Pro and Academy and see who they can recommend. I gotta say, I love this site--it's awesome.

If you know what parts, I might have one. I have a bunch of old reels in a bucket, I use for parts.

Hunter--I need a bail return spring--the one that fits under the large head screw. It flips the bail down when you turn the crank after a cast. And I would like to have the washer thing that fits under the drag adjustment thing. This is a mitchell 308, which is a left hand crank, purchased in the 1965-70 time frame. The springs are different for the 309, a right hand crank. Thanks for your reply.
