I've wondered about using 4 of those hooks with a long dowel stretched between 2 for the rods to rest on. Anyone tried that?
All of those ideas look good, I have to build something soon too...

my overhead rod storage is very complicated!!!! i picked up some leftover rope i had from a anchor line off my shop floor and cut it in half and screwed it to the ceiling with a couple washers,, it holds about 20 poles ,,like i said very complicated system
I used to store them horozontally like others have shown here but I had a rod develope some "memory" from being hung like this. It ended up with a slight bend in it from the "sag" of being hung like that. It appears some of those rods in the pictures are sagging just like mine did. Anyways, one of my rods held that sag permanently and ever since then I store them vertically instead.
i store mine they same way as the pics. but on the rods over 6 feet i put a 3rd holder in the middle. it takes the sag out of the rods. as meatdragger i had several bass rods ruined from storing the flat. that is why i added extra supports.now my surf rods are stored separate hanging flat on the wall with 5 supports under them.i also remove my reels if i will not be using them often. it keeps the dirt and grim off the reels. i store my reels in a plastic container with a sealed lid. your line will not ruin.

Okie Don, they look good! That was my one and only post that helped someone else! Usually I am begging for help!
Josh, I did a double decker instead of a single. If you put a 4 way (not a T) on you can add as you need to. None of mine have sagged yet. Maybe it depends where you place the pvc holders. 3 would work well too.
