    Default Talala Creek Bound

I'll be out there this morning with one, or two of my Daughters. Look for an aluminum boat with a 60hp Mercury tiller on the back. If you happen to hear and old style, "Ah-OOO-GAH" horn, that would be me. Swing by and introduce yourself!

Reaper I'll look for your report later. I started yesterday at spencer and it was slow. The waves blew me away from brushpiles I wanted to try on southern side. I went to Talala next and looked for fish there. I got skunked yesterday and most everyone I spoke to was getting skunked as well. You gotta find them crappie and avenge us all!! LOL

HDS 8 worked great! Found some structure I had only seen as clumps before. Love being able to move the cursor over a tree and mark a waypoint. I did this several times then would go back around to run over it again. Worked every time. Toughest part is to get those anchors set just right and hope the wind blows you into the spot. Bite was slow, only stuck 6 in the livewell and it was hit and miss all day from 6:30 till 3:30. Only caught one under 10" and tossed it back in. Let the rest go right before we left. Must have been 20 boats in the area today, I never saw one of them even try to set a hook. Most all the fish we did catch were around 12' down in 18' to 20' of water. Did catch one Sandy that "Squirt", the weener dog promptly ate for lunch. Si unit is pretty cool, I did make a run over to Stout creek to see what was hanging out there. Saw some big Cats sitting around 25' deep in the channel. It's amazing how you can actually see the body shape of the bigger catfish. Biggest Crappie of the day was about 1.5 lbs. Still had fun, but better catches ahead.
