    Thanks for the post JC. I will be in Wagoner this weekend to visit family. My brother and I plan on going up to Mazie and hitting the river for some sandbass and then maybe some crappie in the creeks. Crappie should be moving up in the shallows by the boatdocks out at Toppers soon!
    Cook a man a fish and you feed him for a day.

    But teach a man to fish and you get rid of him for the whole weekend.

    Yesterday, water 61, last week was 63. Last week a foot high yesterday 3 to 4 inches low and falling! Cleaned 8 good ones turned a 15 1/2" back.
    A friend went up the river only took 37 Sandies home because his livewell lid wouldn't close. He said they were the biggest he has ever caught.

    Decided to run to Toppers area of Fort Gibson today instead of the longer drive to Eufaula. As it turned out, we should have drove further and fished Eufaula!

    Water temp was perfect, 61 to 68. Water had a slight stain. Fished everything from 1ft to 15 ft and never got a bite. Fished rock and shale banks and some brush when we could find it.

    It appeared that the lake is down as much of the brush is high and dry.

    We were pushing jigs and minnows. Tried all colors of jigs without no crappie for our efforts.

    We did catch 6 undersized Black Bass and 1 small but ferocious Bluegill. That little bad boy attacked that 2" Yum Beavertail like he owned it! It was nearly as big as he was!

    As if to add salt to the wound, as we were pulling out of Toppers ramp, I noticed a pickup and boat in the driveway of the house across the road from the ramp. The gentleman was cleaning crappie. I stopped, rolled down the window and asked if he'd caught them today.

    He said "Yes" and I asked how deep and he said;

    "We went to Eufaula, they're biting like crazy down there now"

    His wife added "We never have any luck on Crappie here!"

    My Wife and I had a good laugh over that one!

    I have to agree with this!! I would much rather be out on the water searching for them than working!
