Nice !which lake did you catch those on? I went this weekend bought tackle for ballooning never tried it before , but it looks like fun
Tried for crappie and sandies, but only got one drum and one crappie, so dug out the balloons, got some shad, and headed for the point. They were slammin' the shad heads. Got a bunch of channels this size and wore myself out carrying them the 3/4 mile back to the parking lot.
I think they were shallow due to the temp being 78 this afternoon, and the shallow water had warmed up. Plan to give it another shot tomorrow.

Sky King- still the most versatile fisherman I never met. You are a grandkids dream ! Way to go.

I usually fish shallow water (20' or less) with a 4 1/2 foot leader. The fish will come up for the bait.
But....If you want to fish deep water waaaay out there, get a very large reel and connect the balloon to your line, using rubber bands and a softer Life Saver. Let the balloon out, and in a short time, the Life Saver will melt, letting the bait sink to the bottom. You can get out a lot farther than you can cast. But you have to use braid. Mono will just stretch and stretch and stretch with that much line out.

Must have been another guy, sparky. I haven't been to Arcadia since last spring, but I should be at Hefner this afternoon, probably on the east side near the kids park.
Got only 5 tonight, missed 6. All were channels, 2-7 pounds. Shad heads and small whole shad.
Have you been lately im thinking about trying it tomorrow i finally have everything i need but the bait
