Default Veteran! We can not say THANK YOU enough!

Each Memorial Day and Veterans Day, my boy and I cook a big lunch. We box it up, and deliver it to all the WWII vets that i know. I find them throughout the year in town with their hat on. It is generally at a restaurant. Dinner is on me when i see this! I get their address and number so i can bring them thank you gifts 2x year. I was unable to make all the rounds Wednesday because the fires had to be fought. I was able to get one more done today with just some fresh fruit. These are the most proud, loyal, and appreciative people i have ever ran into. I have been bringing them BBQ or fish for the last 2 years. This time was fruit, haha. All this to say, never pass a veteran without saying THANK You!
This guy always has his hat on. I talk to him alot. He will tell his story. He remembers getting inlisted, went to California, got on a ship to Hawaii. There he received 2 weeks of training, and then loaded all the men up in landing craft and headed for Iwo Jima. He said you can not imagine how rough those flat bottom boats were going across the ocean. He lost his arm after 2 days pinned down on the beaches. Amazing man!

Good job Ledge and thanks to all the VETS who saved the world and made this country great. It's to bad the young people today don't realize how good they have it because of all the brave old men and women who served.

    Good man Ledge.

My father also served in the Pacific. He was on the Renville, a troop-cargo transport, running the landing craft onto the beaches. He has never talked about it much, except that they lost a lot of men (including his best friend) when a kamikaze hit their ship.
Dad always wears his cap, and people stop him all the time to thank him for his service. It really makes his day, and I appreciate every person who thanks him or any veteran. Again, you're a good man Ledge.

Great job Ledge! Not many of those WWII vets left. My dad served in the pacific on a floating dry dock in China. They didn't see any combat but had to repair the ships that did.

Good job!! My dad trained the troops at Fort Sill to shoot the artillery pieces. My Godfather was one of Merrill's Marauder's who fought in Burma during WWII. 2500 men were under Merrill, 100 survived. My Godfather was 1 of 100.
