October 2, 2014 ...Fall Camp Update

Only 15 more days until Fall Crappie Camp!!

Join us on October 17th, 18th and 19th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at Ft. Gibson Lake, Rocky Point Campground, and enjoy some of the best Fall Crappie fishing in Oklahoma.

The Rocky Point Campground exit is located approximately 4 miles North of Wagoner, Oklahoma on Highway 69. Turn right (East) on Whitehorn Cove Road (E690/OK251D).There is a Traffic Light at the intersection (Mack's One Stop store on SEcorner). Drive East approx. 3.5 miles, turn left (North) on Rocky Point Road (S320)to the Rocky Point Campgrounds. Stop at the gate and fill out an envelope and put it in the dropbox. The Camp host, Henry, will be available to take credit cards. He is camped near the gate.

Try to locate a camping site from #45- #55 (30am service) and #56-61 (50amp service). You will have to drive through the Campgrounds to get to the Westside Campgrounds. Refer attached Campgrounds map.

Ft.Gibson Lake is operated by the Corp of Engineers, Tulsa District and reservations can not be made for this time of the year. RV sites are $20.00 (50amp) and $18.00 (30amp) each night and Tent sites (non electric) are $14.00 each night. It is okay with the Corps to rent a RV site, for the RV rate) and pitch your tent on it. Tent campers may rent RV sites and have a maximum of 3 tents or 8 people on each site.

In October, the entrance gate will be unmanned and unlocked and will be open 24/7. There is a $3.00 per day fee for non-campers that will be using the boat ramp and/or parking area.

"America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime Passes" are honored by the COE and 30 amp camp sites rates are reduced from $18.00 per night to $9.00 per night (50 amp rates are $20.00 per night before discount). To get the "America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime Pass", if you are 62 or over, contact the National Park Service. The website for more information is http://www.nps.gov/findapark/passes.htm . To find the nearest location to obtain the "Pass" "click" on "federal recreation site" and you will see a list for each state. The cost is $10.00 for a Lifetime pass! (Woodworker42, sometimes it does pay to be old!) Also, Disabled Veterans receive a Pass at no charge!

The Corps representative indicated that October is a popular month for campers and they normally start arriving on Friday for the weekend. In order for us to get together as a group, she suggests that we arrive on Thursday afternoon/evening,October 16th or early Friday, October 17th. She said there are plenty of camping spaces for everyone.

The"Early Birds" will probably start arriving on Thursday, October 16th to set up camp and getting an early start on this "laid back" fishing weekend. So far, twenty folks have indicated they intend camp and nine more will be day campers. If you decide to "camp" in a cabin or motel, please come join us in the evenings at the Campgrounds and enjoy the hospitality of the "tent folks". .........
