You all doing best on live or jigs? The boys and I were way to shallow this weekend then. We were up spencer playing with sandies instead of the crappies.

I'm far from an "elite". I'm usually on them fairly consistantly though when I've been able to go a lot. I've been pretty busy since last July, but am almost ready to be fishing about 3-4 days a week if not more. I fish the Talala Creek area about 95% of my time on the water. I plan to learn a lot more about the area above Wigganon very soon.

Has anyone been in the Verd above the lake? I promised some kids I would take them fishing this weekend quite a while back. My plan was to get them on some crappie or catfish. I havent had any luck crappie fishing this year, either Oologah or Skiatook, its been horrible for me. I always thought the catfishing in the river north of the lake would be a def back up but its been a while since Ive been up there and I have to think its some nasty, thick, chocolate milk. Can anyone help me out? I hate to drag a boat an hour north just to figure that out! I appreciate the help.

I might be able to start fishing again in about a month, till then, I don't have time. Too many loose ends to pick up after my move. I'd love for you to come up though. If it's a hot day, I'll bring my own umbrella...

Heck, I might even be tempted to enter the tourney.

I bought an umbrella but have yet to figure out the best way to mount it. I don't do well once it gets over 95°, so it would have to be an early trip by that time of year. I am somewhat familiar with the upper end of the lake from having hunted up there quite a bit.

I was up at Big Creek today and only managed to find 2 crappie. The creek itself didn't look that bad. The river is still pretty much bank full and pretty muddy. I think you could probably still get some catfish, but the crappie might be a little tough to find.

ErieAngler, if you want to show those kids a good time this weekend, take them to Winganon Bridge and fish with jigs around the south corners of the bridge opening. Stick to 10 foot of water or so and use heavy jigs since there will probably be a pretty good current. The sand bass should be there catching baitfish as they come through the bridge. Focus on the area where the current meets the slack water. You can find this area by looking for the line if bubbles or foam coming through the bridge. You may want to take some minnows with you too and try for Crappie just off the current in the slack water. Good luck!

Went out this morning planning on fishing blue creek but the wind blew us to Spencer where we had a little shelter. Fished several piles in 15-30 fow and caught one small catfish. We could see fish suspended at 15-20 feet but no bites on minnows or jigs.

I went out yesterday evening and slaughtered the sand bass on orange head roadrunners with a pumpkin and chart bobby garland baby shad. They were feasting on the shad. Too bad I dont like sand bass. banghead
