Got out on the big O yesterday. Went to Spencer and found ice from waterline out to about 10 ft from ramp edge. Figured I could launch and backed the boat til my rear tires were about a foot from waterline. Stepped out of my truck and it began sliding. I hopped in and spun a little rubber but pulled off ramp. Didn't want to try it again so I checked the bank action. I met G3 Jockey at the bank and determined the crappie were not biting like the day before. I put in at Redbud and checked some brush and ledges on both sides of lake, the finally went to Talala and was able to put in there. Caught a couple along ledges there and saw some other boats along the bank, but overall it appeared slow. I wonder if anyone else did good yesterday. It was nice to meet another crappie.com'er anyways.

Anyone on the big O have a 7 series humminbird SI unit?? I have mine installed and taken it out twice since x-mas, but I need help tweeking it and more importantly, could use some tips on how to interpret what it's trying to tell me. This is an offer for a free day on the lake provided by yours truely, I could use the advice and the company of a C.C. member in person.

We made it out at 1030 today. With the light winds we decided to try a place we hadn't fished all winter. We had to bust some ice then use the boat to push it out of the way, so our jigs could fall. There were a lot of shad and crappie showing up in 20-28 fow around some brush. The bite was consistent and the quality was great. We kept a 2 person limit of 74 by 130pm. We had 35-40 fish over 12 inches and several pushing 14 inches. We caught all our fish on jigs. Our best colors were blk/pink, electric chicken, cajun cricket and solid chartreuse. We caught our fish in 20-28 fow, fishing 14 -20 feet deep. Some of our fish were down in the brush and some were hanging out on the edge, on the deep side of the brush. It was a beautiful day on the water. We only saw 2 other boats all day and one of them was close by and it looked like he was catching them pretty good also. I hope to get to go back out in the morning if I get my errands finished early enough.

Here are a couple of pics of the ones I cleaned today.

Good catch Odie!! If you're going out today swing by the Spencer Creek area and say hi. I'll be there setting out juglines if the ice will let me.
