George is right. Crappie fishing below the dam has been on fire. We were catching on the boat ramp, in the creek, on the rip rap leading into the creek, etc. I've been fishing down there for years and this year has been really good. I'm talking nice crappie, and occasionally a walleye. It was so good I stopped fishing the lake and that's been at least 3-4 months ago. It had slowed a bit, but I haven't been down for a week so I am not sure.
    Was that a bite?

    Default Oologah report

My son and I made it out about noon today. Started out on the ri-rap at Winganon and didn't get a bite. Didn't see very many shad along the rip-rap, probably why there were no fish. Moved into Talala creek and started seeing big balls of shad on the locator. Started out fishing in 18-20 fow around a brush pile and picked up a few. Drifted out to 22-27 fow and picked up a few more. Several 8-9 in fish but did have 7 keepers. Moved out of Talala creek to the main lake and fished 2 more piles 16-20 fow. Lots of shad on locator. Caught several fish had 10 more keepers. We caught about 35-40 fish total and kept 17 over 10 in. All fish caught on jigs. Blk/char and pump/char beavertails.

    Default ramp

Someone had put in Sat. or Sun. and had moved some of the snow. I took a large scraper and moved the rest of the snow and ice. It took me over an hour to clear the ramp. Then I went home and cleared a path out of the garage to get the boat out. That is why we didn't get out until noon. The sun melted all the remaining snow while we were out fishing.

Odie - You could have saved yourself alot of work by doing what STINKFINGER suggested. Slide down the ramp until your wheels hit the water and then you are sure to stop. Hey, NO PROBLEMO!! LOL.

Gettin' in is easy. It's getting the truck, boat and trailer up the ramp that's the problem. LOL

    Default ramp

George, I had already thought about that but like Stink also said I didn't have any extra underwear. LOL!!! I just didn't want to be stuck on the ramp when I tried to take the boat out. Well worth the work to catch some crappie.

    Default report

I got back out today from 1130 to 430. We had to really work for them today. Managed to catch about 25 and kept 14 over 10 in. Conditions were different in several ways than the last 3 times we had been. They started letting some water out of the dam for one thing. Second today was the first really cloudy day we fished, the other 3 days it has been sunny. Third, the wind was out of the NE. I don't know if any of those had anything to do with it. Even though we didn't catch a lot it beat sitting at home. All caught on jigs: blk/chr, pump/char, and electric chicken. I'll keep giving the report every time I get out. If any of you guys go please give us your report.
