Nice Jim!!!! Where have you been fishing if you don't mind me asking? I am new to the winter crappie fishing and am having trouble locating the fish. I have been out 6-8 times and haven't had a lot of luck. Thanks for any ideas.

I finally put the deer hunting gear up and hooked on to the boat today. Got on the water around 1245 and fished until 315. The wind limited the fishing to some extent but did manage to catch around 15 and kept 10. All caught on 1 brush pile, and it was the first one I tried. I tried 3 other brushpiles within 75 yds of that one and didn't get a bite. I then ran to Blue creek and fished 3 piles and didn't get a bite. I was very limited in Blue Creek due to the wind. I went back to the first pile for about 10 minutes and caught 2 more. Kinda wished I had just stayed there all the time. I didn't catch any real big ones 2 around 12 inches and the rest were 10 inchers. I caught all the fish on a blk/char beavertail with 1/8 oz. blk head or a BG electric chicken with a 1/8 oz. pink head. The brush pile was in 18 fow. Now I have the winter time fishing fever.:D:D

Thanks for the report Jim and Odie. I was out yesterday also but didn't fair as well as you guys. I guess I am going to have to change up some of my tactics. I am new to fall and winter crappie fishing and really having a difficult time. Any help is REALLY appreciated. Thanks for all the tips and pointers. Good luck on the water.

Jim - I use to have access to one of those slips on Oologah and we use to hammer them! I wish they would just construct another pay dock at Redbud. Ugh!

Odie - Good to see you're on the water getting wet. This time of year that dang wind is always a factor, especially on the days I can get free to fish. Lol!

Okie323 - I haven't been getting out as much as I would like due to work, but I've been able to get out 3x's in the past three weeks. I haven't hammered them like I was last month, but I've still been catching nice fish. A rule of thumb for winter time fishing is the colder it gets, the slower you want to work the bait, and you wanna be patient. I'm strictly a jig fisherman so I work that jig as slow as I possibly can, I'll even pause occasionally during retrieval. The cold water will start to slow down their metabolism, which will make them less likely to chase down a fast moving bait, but it won't kill their appetites. Good Luck!
    Was that a bite?

Yeah, I have had my slip since June and have caught more fish that ever before. It sure makes it nice since you can fish in almost any kind of weather. I have an enclosure on the boat with a small propane heater inside so I can go in and warm up. Almost like having your own heated dock. The bite was real slow this morning and the fish were small until I started the boat engine to circulate some Sta-bil I had added to the gas tank, it was almost as if the engine running turned on the fish. Caught four nice keepers and some small ones in just a few minutes.
