Took a couple of fish hungry friends out last Friday and fished around the rain and wind until the Lightning showed up. We had a good time catching sandies for a while and left em biting to dunk a pound of Arkansas jigs in the lake. 10-14fow and 83 degrees surface temps. We caught over 200 over, in and around just 2 brush piles and the bite never slowed down. Usual summer pattern for us- several one pound 12" fish but nothing over that size. 3 out of 4 fish were hitchhikers so we had to keep our Jedi awareness high to sense the bite. The fish that really hammered it were nearly all about 9" long and were rewarded with a quick release. Something new to me are the Jigglers, who do more than hitchhike (just hold on quietly) but less than thump it- they just jiggle it a little bit. Never noticed this bite before but maybe it's just my inner geezer emerging. Pictured are my buddy from BAHS and his son, who rides bulls on the Senior Circuit so apparently I am older than I look. They needed fish for a big fish fry on Saturday night and left with 74 good ones , luckily all crappie- no striped trash fish. Saw a few other boats out and everybody seemed to be catching fish except the walleye guys- I was sure hoping that would last a little longer than it did. It was cool and cloudy all day and getting wet was a good trade off for getting burnt by the sun.
