Fished for three to four hours yesterday. We caught 23, with 8 keepers (BF 1.45 lbs). Odie was right. I was shocked to catch them as deep as we did. We caught almost all of our fish on brush 12' or deeper. Tried several areas on the north end. Will Rogers area was a bust. Didn't even get a bite there. Tried cork and minnow along the banks in there, and didn't find a fish. Went back to deeper brush for the last 40 minutes and caught 14. Here is a pic of my buddy with his biggest crappie he's ever caught. Name: Resized_20160419_171439.jpg

    Nice fish, KCM!

The wife and I fished in double creek on the NW end (1st time there) and we caught 1 decent size male. We were fishing shallow along the rocks and timber with jigs/minnows. I tried multiple colors and depths with no luck. Everyone else was not having any luck either, so I didn't feel too bad.

Is double creek usually pretty good crappie fishing? I am a complete noob to Oologah, so I welcome all the pointers I can get if anyone can help. It's closer than Kaw for me and seems like a good lake so I would like to learn it. Not asking for anyone's honey hole, but some pointers would be appreciated.

I've only fished the area a couple of times. It's full of stumps and if you want to get to the main lake, you have about a mile of extremely slow moving to keep from tearing anything up or getting your boat hung on one. Most people fish south of Wiganon bridge to the dam.

It sounds like you live more towards the north end of Oologah. If I were you, I would check out Winganon Bridge area, double dip the rip rap, and possibly use a cork and minnow in a foot or two of water along there. Spencer and Tallala Creek aren't very far south from there, and both seem to be very productive spawning areas. Lots of brush in both areas. I think with the sun shining today, tomorrow, and Saturday, the males will be back up in the shallows, and the females hanging out a little deeper in and around brush. Minnows have been a key for us lately, although my biggest fish have come on jigs without minnows. Hope that helps Matthewjp.

I fished yesterday. i fished Wiganon and Talala creek areas. The bite was tough for me. I caught most of my fish 8-12'. I did see a guy fishing with minnows 18". He was not overwhelmed, but was catching males. I finished with 17. Black/pink was deffently the color. The water was stained in Talala Creek but still looked good along the rip rap.

Yeah, I am from Bartlesville so it's convenient to fish the north end. I have a little 17' tracker so I can't fish the big water with any wind. Oologah seems to get pretty nasty when the wind blows.

I will check the winganon area out. I noticed most of the brush pIles listed on the corpse website were in that area. Is that what most people fish?

Thanks for the input, helping a new guy out. I appreciate the pointers.
