Finally caught a male with ragged fins on Saturday about 9 fow and 4 ft deep. He was just a tad too small so I sent him back to his nest. Arrowhead area off the banks. They are coming my way. Still only catching 8" ones. None worth keeping.

I fished most of the day Sat. Started at crowder ramp, worked my way over to and up Rock creek and back again. I caught prob 25 fish total, only 7 keepers. The wind was far stronger than forecast, so it limited where a person could fish. I was being stubborn and fished less than 2 fow most the day trying to get fish actively spawning. Found out that most the fish were in 6-8 fow and not right on the banks. Did catch the biggest crappie I have ever caught which was nice and lost one that was right in the buck brush that was so big at first I didnt think it could be a crappie. Wish I would have got that one- yikes, it was huge. Caught them on various BG,s in the blue colors. I think I am going to hire a guide soon, Eufaula is better than I have been catching them. I need some tips and to get some confidence on that lake.

Fished Friday Saturday and Sunday and the bite was slow all three days. Due to the wind mostly it limits you where you can fish. We had 17 keepers on Friday, 26 keepers on Saturday, and 12 keepers on Sunday. IDK what was wrong, Todd and Barry were also averaging between 20-30 fish per day. The numbers last weekend were down. We are not catching those 50-100 fish numbers like we used too. But the south end of the lake is muddier than normal and I dont like that at all! I may have to venture out and guide some different areas in the near future! EB

Eb ,, what has the water so dirty ?? it hasnt rained that much has it ,, was down on the south end saturday managed to scrape together about 25 Keepers and they were all in a foot or less of water ,, i would dip my jig around stumps and brush ,,it was so stinking dirty i dont think the fish could see my jig i would have to leave it in there for like 15-20 sec before they would hit it( this is in 10 inches of water!!!) Eufaula has not been kind to me this year ,, i can go to gibson and take this abuse

When the water's really murky like this, I dip my jigs in cod liver oil with vanilla extract mixed in...........sure makes a difference.

About three or four years ago I caught a 12' or so crappie that had no eyes. It wasn't like the eyes had been lost either. It was an obvious birth defect because there were just two flat silver places where the eyes belonged. Not even an eye socket.

Point here is that that fish was most likely three years old, and very healthy, yet it had never seen it's meal. They don't need to see to eat.
