EB...We fished Rock Creek Saturday from 8 to 3:30 with only 4 keepers. All females that were very nice in size. We caught these suspended in 18' of water fishing about 4' deep. Had to go to minnows to get these. Not for sure what's going on but there was no-one fishing. Those that were out (very few) weren't doing any good either.

We fished Rock on Friday in the giant wind and gray skies. Not but one bite in 3 hours. We decided to got to the house and take care of some honey doos./

Saw Todd Huckabee and visited a while. He said they weren't doing much either. Wathed them catch one dink in about 45 minutes.

The lake has been on a steady decline since the 9th. I kinda figure that combined with the weather is the reason. I think we'll check them out tomorrow.

Fished the south end again today. Ended up with 39 very nice crappie. The early bite was way off and the North winds were alil more than forcasted. Water temp was 67 when I got there around 7:30am but warmed thru the day and was in the low 70's when I left at 4:30pm. Caught em today on lime/chart, pumkin/chart beavers and pumkin/chart and blk/chart wasshoppers in 3 1/2". The males late in the afternoon were wearing their coats and caught 2 that were in the 1 1/2lb range. Caught 2 catfish and a gar that bit my beavertail. He was about 25 to 30" long and gave a real tussel on a 10' jiggin pole. Fish early were on points and in 5' to 7' DOW. As the water warmed caught most of my fish ale in the afternoon in 2' to 3' DOW. The lake was somewhat dirtier than last week but it should warm up faster now with some sunshine. Saw Todd today and he wasn't doing any good either while he was in the creek, never saw them catch a single fish. He did say his new series RODS are not in yet but should be in any day........Ranger

Soak in salt water overnight, then fresh water bath for around half and hour, then soak in ginger ale or lemon drink for half an hour. Your method of butter milk and hot sauce is just as good clock..... I've done that before and it works. Bottom line, most of us have our own methods and who can say which is better? If it works for you, then it works for me.

I just rinse them, vaccu suck them and then thaw then when I want to fry them. A quick dredge in seasoned cornmeal and cornflour mix. You guys sound like you're trying to cure jackrabbit jerky or something. Rofl

i fished the gaines creek area yesterday, bite was tough for me. i did manage 15 nice keepers so all in all it was a good day on the water for me. all my fish come out of 5-7 fow, colors of choice were the black/chart and blue saphire watsit grub and then the black/pink wooly bee!!! i was gonna do some exploring in the bug tussel area but the north winds made that ramp very unappealing to me. as i was by myself so loading and unloading would have been quite fun im sure. lol .... i was very shocked at the number of people at crowder and rock creek (nearly none) as was the case at hickory point too! oh well, till i get back on the water, thats my fishing report, good luck and be sure to leave some for me!!!
    happy fishin.....

    Finally a decent trip!

Fished way south and ended up with 39 nice fish. A couple were in the 10" range, but most were 12" and up. Perhaps part of the reason we did well was because we were fishing in the right place. Three times a well known crappie guide came around the corner right to where we were fishing as if he wanted to fish there too.

Most of the fish were right off the bottom in 7-8 FOW. Electric chicken and June bug/blaze orange seemed to be the hot baits. Beavertails and Slab slayers seemed to be the best. A few fish were suspended 4" deep in 8 FOW.

Met Jig Head form this board at the ramp. He was fishing with his son. I hope they had a good day. He told me things had been kinda sorry for the last few days.
