My son Josh & I fished yesterday wadin down south, we started in the Fishcreek area and only had 2. Moved to CC and the north wind was pounding our good spots. Moved to Bugtussel found some banks out of the wind and found them shallow...mostly females with smaller males. It was a slow bite but they would nail it when you worked the jig just the right speed. 8" to 1.5' on sloping banks with clay/sand and pea gravel bottoms.Black/Pink Beavertails on yellow 1/8 oz. Crappie Pro jigheads. We about froze our tails off after 4:00 pm!!! Culled down to 17 keepers rolled up and lost more than that! Came home and had a fish fry with taters and blackeyed peas. I think Thurs. through the weekend should be great shallow fishin...good luck to all.

I fished CC Monday afternoon. Caught 13 shallow on a cedar bush and then it got cloudy and cold. Caught a few more shallow and then moved to trolling and ended the day with 24. Tuesday I went to Rock and it was windy and cold. I moved out to Blocker Bridge and managed 12 by 1:00pm. Moved into Rock and picked up a few more. Motored over to CC and only found a couple. Day total 18. By the way, as I was leaving Blocker Bridge Todd H. was going that way. Later when I got a burger at the store he told me that when I passed him he had 9 fish, that was about or 2 oclock. At 5pm he was cleaning 111. Go figure, I fished there all morning for 12 and he does a drive by and catches 102. He said the bite was very slow for about 30 minutes and then the wind laid down and the bite got insane.
Fished out of Elm Point today and managed 15 with some really nice ones. No shallow bite to speak of but then we didn't pick every bush apart, just passed by from the boat. Water temps this am were 63, wednesday, warming up to 66 in the creeks. Still looking for that full moon bite.
Hey, tell me a story!

Which Ones Were The Liars?
Headed down to Coal Creek today with my Dad. On the way out of Coweta, I noticed a pasture full of cows and they were all laying down. Just outside Haskell, there was a pasture and about half the cows and all the horses were feeding.
"Hmmm...getting better I thought."
(BTW, do Horses count?)
Just this side of Checotah, another pasture had about half the cows laying down and half standing. "Okay, half of these cows are lying to me" I thought.
Put in off the old Hwy at CC road. Was fishing a little after 9. Noticed the water was muddier than I remembered and a lot lower than it was the last time I was there a week and half ago.
My dad caught the first one on minnows and then I put several in the boat using 1/4 oz Crappie Pro Jig heads with Blk/Pnk Yum beavertails and 3" BG Slab Slayers in Cajun Cricket.
The wind picked up but the bite never did. It seemed the fish were scattered good. We'd pick a few up on the bank and a few out in 6 fow fishing 2 to 4 ft down.
Ended the day at 2 p.m. with 12 average (3/4 lb to 1 1/4 lb) Crappie and one legal black bass. Caught about that many more smaller (less than 10") fish.
Had real fun trying to load the boat in the wind in that cove, but figured that would happen anyway.
Water temp went from 60 in the morning to 65 in afternoon. Did find one cove that had 68 degree water, but only picked up a couple small males in there. Half the fish were females.
On the way home, I saw no one at the Rock Creek ramp (the one you can see from the Hwy) and only 5 at the Crowder Park ramp. No one was at the culvert. Not sure but it seems something has them slowed down. The wind, the approaching front, the lake being lowered or the cows...I dunno!
So now I'm just trying to figure out which cows were lying. The ones laying down or the ones feeding? :D

We are still catching plenty of fat females with eggs in the docks with minnows from 4 to 10 foot in the longtown area thru out the day.

Cleaned 47 today fishing down south. Bite didn't get going until after 3pm, all shallow. A lot of smaller fish were caught. Most were caught on minnows.
Hey, tell me a story!

I just have to give a shout out to Lake Eufaula. I have not been there for a while but this lake is what got me hooked on fishing. I have fond memories of spending a week or 2 out of the summer with my grandparents at HWY 9 landing in their RV. We would fish 1 of 3 spots. #1 We would tie up to one of the bridge piers right by #9 landing on HWY 9 #2 We would Tie up to the other set of bridge piers just right up the hwy in the main lake area #3 We would go up to longtown creek, which we called "the treetops"
We always tore the Crappie up on this lake and this is what got me started fishing overall. My favorite spot was the main lake HWY 9 bridge piers because we could sometimes really get into the sandbass and a few catfish if there was a current going through, and we would just slay the crappie. It sounds like Eufaula is still producing some nice slabs. Those were some great days! Amen.
