Went today for 3 hours. 6 keepers 13" or better and 24 tossers. Water temp was 61 degrees. The fish seem to have gone deeper and it was windy about 14 mph which makes crappie fishing tough in 40 ft of water. Texoma seems to have stayed murky longer than I have ever seen it before. Again most fish were on my own spoon.

Yesterday was fairly calm here so I went out about noon and was home by 3:00. Only 10 fish. I usually don't fish this time of year and mostly wanted to see if I could catch anything. Caught most of them on my home made 1/4 oz spoon in 45' of water near a channel.

The most common spoon is made by soldering a small willow leaf blade to a small hook, filling in the concave side, then painting it any color you want, generally with two or more colors. Stripes or dots both seem to work. They seem to work best when you crank them up SLOWLY. Most guys use single action reels (no gears). They usually work better during the winter months. You can also buy them on-line.
These are just a few spoons. They are not works of art, but they really catch fish.

My spoon is a standard 1/4 oz spoon that is exactly like the 2 or 3 oz spoons used for striped bass with a # 8 treble hook on it. I make them myself with a do-it mold that can be bought at Barlow's Tackle. White and chartruse. Today's efforts with it below
