My son's home on leave and has been wanting to do some fishing so we went to a couple places we could get to, Catfish Bay and along the bank between the bridge and CB. Got a couple tugs but nothing strung.
There are a couple places you can launch from around there but I don't think they are actual ramps, more like roads that's being used. Lakeside, Johnson Creek, Willow Springs, Newberry Creek are all still under water and closed.

Rick, day before yesterday, Sonnyboy called both Newberry Creek and Little Glasses and they told him they were both closed. The problem with launching from a closed road is, where do you leave your truck and trailer? The few places we thought we could launch didn't have anywhere you could get your truck out of the way of others. Don't think that is a good idea.

Nope, it's not for sure. The couple that I saw had launched from what looked like one of the roads going into CB and had pulled up and parked on the shoulder. One had launched from right next to the Ranger Station. Couple things would give me pause. One is just leaving my rig on the side of the road around there and the other is you'd better really know that area. I know one guy that punched a hole in his hull in 07 when Lakeside was flooded, hit one of those concrete picnic tables.

Sonnyboy and I found a place we could launch his boat on Kansas creek, just off hwy 199 east of Little City. Got there at first light and fished a couple of hours without a bite. Packed it in and have no idea where the crappie are right now. Lake is still up over 20', all ramps are closed and they are NOT letting much water out. At this rate it's going to be late fall before we can get back on the main lake.
A couple of weeks ago, someone asked if the guided trip they had booked for July 20th might still be on. My guess would be NOT! If your guide has his boat in one of the south side marina's, it's possible but, I'd sure call and find out before making the trip.

Current level is 635.33 and normal pool is 617 + or - as it changes now almost daily. Sonnyboy and I were able to launch from a bank in the Little Glases arm one day this week. Couldn't have asked for a better day except we never got a bite. All of our spots are way too deep and under the thermocline. Tried shallow brush/timber/weeds with no luck.
At the rate the lake is going down, it seems it will be September before anything like normal happens. Should be a great fall for crappie.
We are going to try Hickory Creek one day this week and if that doesn't produce, I'll probably call it quits till Sept.

Texoma is now down to 630.20 and dropping almost a foot per day. At this rate, ramps should start opening up real soon. At this level we are only 12' above normal pool and just over 15' down from the all time record high level set this past May.
But, with water temps sitting around 89 degrees and a thermocline set in at about 12' down, I have no clue what this is doing to the crappie. As soon as I can get on the water, I'll let everyone know.

Little Glasses ramp is open!!!! Lake is still about 10' over normal, water temp is about 90 and thermocline is around 12'. Doubt I'll try it for a few more days at least, maybe a couple of weeks.

This morning the level is 623.54 and no gate changes yet. Do expect to see them slow down the outflow pretty soon. We are only about 5' above normal pool.
We are heading to Butcherpen this morning and see what happens.

Current level this morning is 622.70 but, they have slowed down the discharge rate. Normal pool is now 617.33 so just about 5' above normal!
Sonnyboy and I did get out yesterday morning and were on the water at first light. It really felt good with the coolest morning of the summer and no wind until after the sun came up.
The good news is we finally caught a few crappie! The bad news is they were all dinks. We fished an area called 'Butcherpen'. It's a beautiful little part of Lake Texoma and was part of the lake until silted in several years ago. It has been known to be a good producer in the past but, no telling what it or any other part of the lake will be like after the flooding this year.
I need to correct my previous comment about ramps being open. Yes, there are some but, not all yet. Sonnyboy called Newberry Creek and they won't reopen until the level gets down to 620. So, if you plan a trip you need to call the marina where you plan to launch before heading this way.
And, be very careful on the lake! There are going to be a lot of changes that are going to surprise us all. Floating timber could be a problem, silting off of areas or maybe even opening areas not previously available. It's going to be like fishing a new lake for all of us! Just be careful.
