This has to change and I just hope to be there when it does!
Went to Newberry Creek Yesterday (4,30,2015) to figure out my depth finder and fish a little. My son in law and my oldest daughter were with me. Didn't have down imaging? and unit wasn't working on si either. We managed one large Crappie just as it was getting dark caught by my daughter. Caught on minnow and found new hole to return too. If we new what we were doing we would have loaded the boat and wish we had found the spot earlier. We seen water temps in the 70's. Sorry for all the pic's tried to delete the sideways ones but the seem to have stayed on. New at posting pics as well, lol. When editing it only shows the one upright and I couldn't delete the others.

I like the last one. It puts that Texas Longhorn in proper perspective.

Conversation on the Texoma Lake has slowed to a crawl. I've been out three times in the last three weeks and nothing but one. Mostly in the Newberry Creek Area. Any comments and conversation is better than none, lol. Hickory Creek can truly be accessed by boat now! I was away for a few days during the rain and came back to a big surprise! Any idea's on crappie fishing when the rains stop and how long? Any idea's on spawn or no spawn on Texoma before or after? If no spawn where is the most common place they will hold up when this all settles down? Summer Pattern?

How is the lake level since all this rain? I'm going to head up there on a striper trip soon, I hope.

Lake is expected to go over the spillway this weekend. Most areas are closed. Not a good time to go to Texoma.

The situation on Texoma is not good. Lake is still rising and close to 12' over normal pool. Some ramps are closed, you'll have to check to see which ones. Understand that the river below the lake is full and there is concern about Shreveport flooding if more water is released from Texoma. Haven't checked my rain gauge yet this morning but, we got more rain yesterday and the forecast for the next seven days calls for thunderstorms every single day. You can go from the Texas side all the way to Tishamingo by boat now. Also concern about bridge closures. I know there are a few on the Wichita River closed and heard talk yesterday they might close the Roosevelt bridge if the water gets much higher.
I don't plan to get on the lake for awhile. With all the debris from the Red and Wa****a river, it's going to be dangerous. I've seen the Wa****a and hear the Red are both bank to bank with strong currents taking even more water into Texoma. I don't see any let up in this for a while.
Who knows what the crappie are doing. Suspect they are scattered all over the lake. I don't know of any particular depth or type structure they might be on. This is all new to me, I've never experienced anything quite like this. They are probably as confused as we all are. I do feel the spawn was pretty bad this year which will have a bad effect on the next few years. Suspect some fish spawned out but, know others did not.
