Look for shad in the coves where there might be some breeze. You should see the shad flipping which tips you that they are there. For crappie work the trees from shallow to deep.
wow, i had to dig a long ways back for this thread. Well the lake is alive again! I fished until 2:30 yesterday. The lake has turned over, as there is not a thermocline, and fish are scattered from 0-20FT! I caught fish from 6-16 FOW in brush. 12' seemed to be the best, and is where i would always start. We had 27 for the day and probably 70-80 fish for the day. Lots of short fish. The water is muddy. water temp was 72 when i put in. I fished the sarge area. Black and red was the color of choice. I caught 10:1 handtied jigs to plastic!
All ramps are open. The lake level is 2' below normal so they can seed the mud flats for ducks.
All campground are closed due to the Gov. Shutdown until further notice.
Starting tomorrow, there will only be one COE person for the entire lake.
The lake and surrounding COE areas will remain open for boating, fishing, and hunting.
Hope this helps.
Fished yesterday from noon to six. Kept 11 from 10 to 14 ". All on minnows. Water temp was 66-68, vis was 10 inches were I was.The fish were 3-5 Feet deep in 7 FOW in cover.
