Nice Slabs gentlemen....nothing like Ft Gibson thumpers. Even when it is slow, a couple studs like those make the day worth while
What a difference a day makes in the river. Today there wasn't any current as there was yesterday, and then the wind was a killer today also making it almost impossible to stay on anything in the open. We gave it our best shot today though and kept 14 very nice crappie. We had so really nice pigs today with the biggest just under 2lbs and several from 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs. We caught them from casting and dragging to long poling flipping and swimming Wollybees in pearl/chart. and pumkin/chart. in shallow cover. Today even the short crappie didn't want to bite only catching maybe 10 or so short 1's as to yesterday we caught probably 50. Water temps was 83 at unloading and got up to 86 before leaving. The one thing that still holds true is anything over 10' your wasting your time fishing.

Yeah boy! Crappie over 1.50 get my heart pumping, for some guys its big bass, others its catfish, but for me its SLABS! EB
You wont have to worry bout that long EB I see that fillet board on the side of the boat hahahahahaha
I am new to fort Gibson. Is the river you are fishing chouteau Bend ? I have really only fished the area near the golf course and have not found much brush there. I am an old guy with my first boat . I used to catch a lot of 10-12 inch crappie from the boat docks in that area but now I need to learn a new trick. If anyone can just point me in the right direction I have a pretty good locator and shouldn't need to beg you for your honey holes! Thanks for your help. Appreciate the posts and love to see those specks. I don't remember catching any black crappie in Gibson but I would love to start!
George I'm glad we all get to enjoy Gibson right now! Georgeous black crappie because one day it will rain again and it will be 20 ft above normal! Then we will all be back on the big E! EB
ciller the river can be anywhere from Whitehorn to Chouteau Bend and above. We are fishing laydowns up and down the river just have to find the right stuff..Good Luck.....Ranger

Thanks EB and Ranger. I read recently that they are working on the dam and trying to keep the lake 2' low for that project . Might last as long as 2 more years. So maybe we have a little time if they can open those gates wide enough to keep it down.
Went as far as the water would let me go this morning , the low water dam area is almost dry , the last mile was only about 3' deep.. I had never been up there by boat
I did catch a few short fish no keepers though but most of the time was spent looking for brushpiles and laydowns

Buck remember you will always catch more fish off of "Isolated structure". EB
