I too was thinking about trying it. I've drove to Eufaula a few times the last couple weeks and thought if I stopped at Gibson it would give me another hour of fishing time; and get home earlier. Anybody know anything about the Blue Bill area? Thanks

I fished upper end yesterday in the wind and had 9 crappie 11-14 in range and around 20 white bass. The white bass are doing it right now and if the weather will hold crappie should start biting in the next 2 weeks. Water temp in the river was 57-58. Not many fish to be found on the graph in the upper end but could go on out in the lake and find plenty.

Now that's what I like hear, I'm not opposed to loading the freezer up with sandies, while the crappie are coming in!

Might take my kids to Gibson over spring break. Never been on the lake before, so can anyone recommend a camp ground near a good place for trolling. Don't really care about species just plenty of fish to catch short attention spans mostly

Depending on what type of amenities you are needing. Mazie Landing Marina is more of a primitive type camp ground I believe. Don't think they have any electric or water. I unloaded there this morning and another gentleman and his son were loading their boat and said they had about 40 Sandies caught on a shad rap running 8-10 ft. You might try to call the Marina and see what amenities they have available. I do know they have a restaurant (open 7am-7pm) with good burger and fries and breakfast. The only other option would be some of the Corps of Engineers camp grounds at Blue Bill Point, Flat Rock or Rocky Point.

Awesome. Thanks for the response. It seems the core sites aren't open until April 1. I'm going to try to call tomorrow to find out for sure. How's the Taylor Ferry area?

I don't know much about that area further down the lake but I would say anywhere you have some feeder creeks you might catch some Sandies unless the rain and cold weather has messed everything up.

Upper end of Gibson yesterday.. ended day with 19 in the livewell. The rest went back in the water, almost everything was under 10". Had a few sandbass tangle the lines as well.

You said you ended the day with 19 in the livewell and most were under 10", I'm hoping you meant over 10" since the length limit on all the Grand River watershed is supposed to be over 10". The best I've been able to do the last week was 9 and all were 12-14 inch fish.
