Went out on the 15th. Couldn't buy a bite for love nor money. The whole lake had lockjaw. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day on the water and it is really good to see the lake so full. Water quality is as good as I've seen it. For T-Bird it is nice and clear. And, I couldn't believe that it was the middle of August in Oklahoma and the water temp was 82!!!!

What's the best place to put in with a canoe, no electronics and no motor? I'm looking for the closest road to fishing, since I have a canoe, I don't necessarily need a boat ramp. Where should I put in and what should I look for to jig up some slabs? Thanks.

J., I would think that you could put in at either East or West Sentinel at the Twin Bridges on Alameda and fish all around the rip-rap and under the bridges or anywhere you see limbs sticking out of the water.

Definitely the Twin Bridges located on the far West-side. The West part of the bridge is the creek channel. I have had great success around the water tower located on the North side of the main lake. It gets really deep on the South-side of the tower. To the West of the tower is shallower with a lot of downed timber in it. Rip trap is always good located on the South-east side. You could launch at the South Dam area located off Hwy 9. I've pulled some good ones out of the dock located of Peebly road where it turns East. Just hang a right off Peebly and follow it back to the Little Axe dock. It is fished a lot there but there is some good timber/brush piles. The dock fishers can only fish so far out so a lot of it is untouched by them. There is some good timber along the East-side of the lake in each cove. There is also some good timber between the Twin Bridges and the water tower in one of the North-side coves there. A lot of this timber/trees are submerged now with the lake being at normal level. In years pasts with the lake being 6' down you would have been able to see exactly where and how much timber/tree piles there is. Some of this I talked about would be easy to get to by canoe and others I don't know. It would just depend on how far you want to walk. Hope this helps.

Wes Watkins isn't too much further up the road off Harrah and I40. I heard of good size crappie there. Smaller of lake and no where near the depth of TBird. I'm only 2 miles from it but never fish it because the banks are really shallow and I didn't have a boat. That will all change soon when my boat comes in. There is a ton of standing timber in it and it is visible.

Took the ole kayak out for evening paddle yesterday. I ended up jigging stick ups with BG scent wriggler in twighlight and caught countless dinks but nothing worth cleaning. Let em all go for another day.

Been pretty tough out at Wes Watkins locating fish alot of dinks but no slabs. Been having good luck out at twin bridges and the coves north of the peebly boat ramp in the timber. They are still holding shallow 5 ft down to 8.

I declare Thunderbird officially dead, dead, dead. Hove only been catching a few dinks (very few) over the last four weeks, and now one crappie yesterday. Even the blue cats were not hitting while trolling and they have been pretty hot for about two weeks. Some dead blues floating on top near the water plant, man what has happen to my lake?
