Excuse me, I meant Harrah road not Dobbs. Just drove over it again. It's looks more towards 12-18" away.

I went fishing below the damn the other day. The water was rushing too hard for any crappie so I went after catfish. I @ threw my cast net about three times into the rapids and had more shad than I could use in days. They were rediculously strong compared to lake shad too! I couldn't even hold them still without feeling like I'm crushing them. Lots of little drum too. But, I didn't even get any bites. I did however see people step over the gate and fish right up next to the damn. The gate was knocked flat by the flooding that has assigns on it warning people to stay out. Sure enough a ranger pulls up in his truck and starts hollaring at them. He was piiiiissed. He had his handcuffs out and everything. He ended up just chewing them out for a bit before they left. Its a federal offense to go passed the gates. I got a video of the whole thing but it's too big to upload.
Anyone been getting out?
I caught an 8lb flathead on a swim jig the other day below the Damn. Caught a few drinks as well.
I just got a kayak and I've been running all over the lake trying to get on the crappie with no luck. I even got a fish finder thinking it'd help me find structure and that hasn't helped much either unfortunately. I've bank fished for years and had decent luck, but does anyone have any tips on what I might try from the kayak? I've trolled cranks and rat-l-traps, jigged a whole variety of colors near the bottom of drop offs and points, and tried minnows as well. Any advice would be appreciated!
I've had great success at tbird in years past but the last 2 years no. Stopped by one day after work 2 weeks ago at Little Axe dock. Everyone was hauling them in but they were only 7-8". People there were keeping them. I couldn't stand it and left.

Fun is right! I was into about a gazillion of them a couple of days ago on tbird. Unfortunately, the biggest was about 6 inches long. I rarely bother to drive there any more. It's a shame as we caught large ones there (30 years ago.)

IkenI, I can remember only 5-6 years ago I would catch a lot of 10-12" and a few 1.75-1.95# fish in the fall. I was at tbird once this year about a month ago and only caught 3 that were 10" all the others were 3-6".
