Default Out of Stater - Dillon Lake

I will be visiting family for the 4th of July from Kansas. Curious if Dillon Lake provides good crappie fishing from the bank that time of year? They live about 2 miles east. Thanks!

Not familiar with that lake, but fishing from the bank in July in Ohio can be tough unless you're on one of the canal lakes. Try shady docks or fishing with lights after dark.

One think to consider that time of year is maybe bring an ultra light and fish some local creeks/rivers for smallies or whatever. Wading in the heat is a lot of fun. I don't live near there but I believe I did visit Dillon one time maybe 10-15 years ago and I think it had a pretty nice area below the dam with some decent access. Might be worth looking into. Should be some other creeks in the area too.
Might want to check out the DNR website for some stream access points.

    "were did ever one go"
I was wondering the same thing. Few years back the Ohio board was pretty active been pretty dead ever since.

It has been dead on here this year. I haven't had much to contribute either. River & creeks were pretty stained up all spring. We caught a 14" crappie on a limb line last night. Does that count?

No crappie today fishing in the spillway but caught a handful of 12-15" walleye. Didn't realize no length limit for them in Ohio and wasn't expecting to catch them or would have kept them for some small fillets.

Depends on the lake. Dillon doesn't have any length limit, but others do.
