The Thermocline at CJ will normally set up between 13-15 ft....I'm surprise with the recent storms, heavy rain, and wind, that it is still there?? Normally that is what breaks it up in the Fall. For it to still be there, the Lake was VERY Hot and stagnant...the only thing that saves CJ and the fish in there, are all the Springs...without them, CJ would be a mess!
Glad you got out...I ended up watching Football practice under the lights!

Been awhile since I've been up to CJ. I've been hittin Caesars the last couple months. Went to CJ on 9/5 and pulled some cranks. Caught over 45 crappies in 3.5 hours. 5 stinkin cats and one wall hanger white bass( if there is such a thing.) water temp that morning was 79 but quickly went to 82 by 10:30 am. 12 crappies were 10" or better, with the best being 14". The rest were 8"-9.5". We only keep 10" or better. But all were put back for another day! Where I marked fish was really different than other trips. The mid lake humps and roadbeds were dead. Could not find a bait ball in those areas. So, I quickly went on a mission covering water looking for shad. They were on the move and in different areas than I'm used to cruising. All in all a good trip.... Caught some fish, had a ton.of fun, and got an education! Sometimes you just have to go outside the box! Hope to head back this coming Monday morning. Good luck out there!

Very Nice...you did what I always talk about, "adapt and find the pattern!" Remember the pattern you found, it happens every year....Amazing how many people will just sit in those areas and think something will happen???
Small shad are driving the lake, it will be this way until the water hits 39 degrees.

Bet that WB was Fun...those Wallhangers in the 16 to 18 inch range are a handful!

Beautiful on the lake this morning! Water levels were up a bit and the lake was a coffee color. I guess the rains from the weekend stirred her up. Had about 16" of clarity at best. Caught 13 craps and 3 whiskers. I wish someone would start eating those darn things...they know how to foul a treble hook. Anyway, water temp was 77 @ 0630 and 79.5@1030. Never do well with a blue bird sky and no wind. But nonetheless a good time was had by all. I did take 3 12+" home for a snack! Have fun out there.
