Default Grand Lake SM this past weekend

Really wanted to head up with pops this weekend but alas work didn't permit. He bragged on Sunday that he and his buddy caught 168 crappies from Friday evening until Sunday morning. All in our channel and fighting ice the entire time. 2-6' of water and slow pull retrieve. 1/32 head with various grub colors. Says they lost another 12 or so that flopped off.

Could be a good "wife's" tail but he's usually pretty honest.

Sunday sucked at GLSM! Blanked personally with only 1 possible bite. I was using a grub and was told by multiple sources that needed to be using something shade shaped.

Pops caught 11 on Sunday but only 2 keepers and all were out. 20-15' out from the seawalls. Natural cover was very unproductive, aka logs, brush. Seemed early on that warmth was the key but not in tight to cover. Perhaps the sun warming up the concrete was putting more warmth into the water than we thought it would. By noon, nothing. One dink crappie by pops was all we could manage. Tried trip tips, curlys, stingers, swimming shad.......All color combos, short pulls to long slow retrieve. It sucked!!!!!!!

Oh well, if I only catch 1 next time out it's an improvement!

Did you try fishing under a cork or using a nibble? Sometimes it makes a difference.

CM, we always use bobbers just not slippers. Sometimes its for bite reaction usually more for gauging lure depth when we "swim" the lure.

Sounds like some nice weights for St. Mary's. Jason said you guys had fun. Congrats!

I know it was a little chilly in the morning.

Congrats and very good bags! Where they mainly out in the lake or channels? Saw a few guys by Rustic Haven in those channels but looked like a few boats on the west side had some spider rigging going on main lake. Really hard to tell from more than 150 yards as to what everyone is doing.

Saturday should be fun as long as the lake isn't flooded. 4-5" of rain will move a ton of poop into that watershed.
