Now is a bad time to take whole family with this heat and bite slowing down on crappie ect. Try the lake humps with structure not far from boat ramp in 12ft of water and go shallow if its for bass... Night fishing is allowed and good luck...
I fished Cowan over Memorial day weekend for the first time and was impressed with the lake, but not so much all the boats and people just busier than I prefer, but I guess thats expected over a Hoilday. So my wife and I decided to take the whole family on a 3 day vacation there during the week verses weekend or hoilday. Only fishing the lake once I wanted to see if anyone could give Us any advise at all, as to where? What to use? whats biting? and also wondering if they allow night fishing? I favor Crappie, but would like to target the Saugeye and Bass also any help is well appreciated

Tom,
Depending on water color after all this rain, the clearer water should be shallow on the banks.,
I would use a light 1/64 or 1/32 oz (green or white) jig tipped with a nibblet (swim it or fix bobber 18 to 24 inches it)
& hit the shore lines with laydowns & all of the boat docks, crappie & bass will be in the shady areas.
Good luck, plenty of crappies, may have to sort thru alot of small ones to get a limit, but fun doing it,
Have fun!!
I USE BIG BOBS CRAPPIE BAITS !!
Just wanted to thank you guys for the help, I plan on using every bit of advise. The forecast is for hot weather and 30-40% chance of rain, will see how that goes. I will let you all know how we did next Thursday
Update, just got back from 3 hot days at Cowan and well lets just say the swimming was good, lol besides the weather being in the 90's and the water temp being 84, my trickle charger decdided to take a vacation too, so after monday I was left with only my outboard to fish with, which made it a challange to load the boat when the wind was howling by and even more of a treat in the dark! but on the lighter side we did catch small crappie on Minnows under a bobber at night in the campground beach cove, and managed to catch a handfull of nice Bluegills on Waxworms they were hanging out in the shaded areas. I did try trolling a bandit 100 with out any luck and fished the main channel out from the marina, but having the whole family there, who all want to fish or ride in my 3 man boat, made it hard to get real serious. Late Wensday afternoon a storm rolled through, and after things settled down and it cooled off I was sure we could catch some doing some bank fishing, but it only yielded 2 gills and a pumpkin seed. On a side note the 3 days I was there I never saw more than a half a dozen fisherman on the lake at one time, so I figured I found out why! Oh well still had a good time on a very nice lake, and plan on returning this Fall. Now I am thinking about headed down to KY tomorrow to hit some streams. Thanks for the help guys
