    Default Ef 6/9

Made it out for a few hours this morning with crappiemax trying to beat the jet ski crowd. The morning started off decent, catching 4-5 real nice fish. It went downhill from there, with most fish being 5-6’’ chips. Caught fish anywhere from 1-13' deep. I haven’t been to East Fork in several weeks, but I thought it was in pretty bad shape. There was algae so thick in areas that you could walk on it. We probably counted 100+ dead fish also…carp, crappie, catfish, hybrids, etc. Hopefully it gets better soon. Unbelievable that some of those people will still allow their kids to swim in that lake, dodging the dead fish and ick.

It was pretty gross in some places. No way I'd get in there.

Forgive my ignorance but why does east fork have such nasty algae blooms and fish kills every summer?

I think it all started with one of two events......

theory 1) T-bone pee'd in the lake during a tourney.....no telling what that guy has contracted in his many misadventures

Theory 2) musky slime.....you ever smelled one of those evil things?

I think we had 7 over 10" and maybe another 6 or 7 over 9". It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. We just kept moving and looking.

The new St.Mary's?? Haven't been there in awhile. I think I would stay away from there if I did see that. I know it has been bad the last few years.

I considered coming down this past week. Glad I didn't after reading this. Been working in the garden for the last few weekends. It's killing my fishing time. Guess I got my priorities mixed up.

The white virus looking stuff floating around was scary looking, never seen it before.

We fished yesterday there to and had a pretty good day.
