Exclamation Heads up! Acton ramp work

Headed to Hueston Woods this morning and found that three ramps only were open - two narrow and the wider pontoon ramp. They seem to be working on the tops or sides of the docks. Everybody was trying to be quick about getting in and out or the ramps, but it will be a different story with the sail boaters tomorrow since they appear to be clueless on a good day. Despite the weather forecast of no rain and sun, it clouded over and rained, chasing most of us off the water. Fishing was slow unless bluegill were the target.

GLSM was slow too. Carp are just way to active in the channels and moving fish around.

Hopefully everyone was polite. THere have a few times at Brookville that the a-holes have come out of there shells when you can't get 7 boats side-by-side to launch. The most irking part is that they sit at the top of the ramp, having to pee all the beer they've already consumed out, then getting stuff untethered, poles out, whatever.

I hear ya on the carp. They were rolling in the grass beds right up against the bank. Next trip I think I'll carry a fly rod or some dough balls. When we launched, one ramp was blocked by two guys that fooled around getting their gear in the boat instead of getting ready in the tie-down area. We see a lot of that. On the other hand, things went pretty well when everyone was trying to get off the water. I told my other half that I need to practice with the trolling motor so I can drop him off at the marina to get the truck while I get in line (you don't want to see me trying to back a trailer). Did it a lot with the old tiller steer, but I haven't done it with the foot controlled. That really speeds up the process.

if you jump off at the gas dock, by the time you troll the boat to the ramp, your timing is just about right to meet up with the tow-rig, unless its really busy.

Me and a buddy fished Acton Sunday, didnt get on the lake till 11:00, lol forgot he likes his sleep! We tried to find the crappie once again using mostly minnows a few feet off of the bottom, well I think we found every 6"-7" crappie in the lake, not a single keeper also pulled in 2 nice channel cats a carp and a lil pumpkin seed. They have been working on the ramps for a few weeks now, but looked like all they have to do now is pull the concrete forms off and all should be good. Oh yeah for what its worth I was out at Bass Pro this week and one of the clerks told Me that 2 employees fished Acton last week in the rain caught 110 crappie including a 23" Crappie, which blew the story for me! lol 23" really? come on

Yeah, and I always trusted the Bass pro associates, guess they are fisherman too! which reminds me of a little story, took my 8 yr old Gson fishing last summer at a local park, and didnt catch a thing, on the way home I said Gillian, normally its a bad thing to tell a lie, but as a fisherman its ok to tell a white lie here and there,so lets tell Gma we caught 4 Bluegill and 1 Catfish he looked at me with amazement then nodded His head ok, we got back and he nervously told Gma the fish story, later I told my wife about it all. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I took him Crappie fishing at Acton Lake, a lake Ive been fishing all year and we slayed them, not big Crappie, but He kept a running count and at the end of the day we caught 47, when ariving home he proudly told Grandma about the 47 fish, she rolled her eyes and went on with her business! Oh well he knows better

We bought a couple of counters from Jann's Netcraft, so our counts are more accurate, but I guess fish counts are like golf scores...

I think it's less about the addition skills and more about the size that will imitate golf scores. Low the # of strokes = bigger the size of the fish. Sometimes I say I went golfing but my hands and golf bag will reek of crappie! Luckily my wife doesn't care too much as long as I'm not, well.........
